The Tater Tot Hot Dish Saga

Dear Family and Friends,

This was a great week! We have been teaching a lot and have been able to meet lots of people from all walks of life!

We found a new investigator this week named Rosalind. She is an older Native American woman in a wheelchair. She has such a strong relationship with Christ and is very humble and full of gratitude. We taught her the Plan of Salvation in our first meeting and she knows it is true. We invited her to be baptized on June 20 in the same meeting and she accepted. The whole time we were there she had tears streaming down her cheeks and she told us, "I know you were sent to me for a reason. I'm so happy you're here." I'm so excited to see Rosalind progress in the gospel.

We also had a break through with John. He is in a low spot and doesn't know if there is a God. When we first met with him he said he was looking for peace. He expressed to us how he doesn't really feel anything when he prays and he doesn't know if there is any hope for him. As we read from the scriptures and talked about prayer and the Holy Ghost the expression on his face changed. We asked him what he was feeling and he said, "I feel hope." The Holy Ghost Pricked his heart and he felt hope! I was so grateful to be able to witness him feel the Holy Ghost for the first time.

We also have been meeting with a couple named Greg and Kylie for a while and they had invited us over for dinner and a lesson. Well, they were making tater tot hot dish (Hot dish is North Dakotan for Casserole) and I have come so close multiple times to having this infamous tater tot hot dish since I've been out on the mission, but something always comes up and it doesn't work out....well, this time was no different. They got a call that something was wrong at Kylie's Father's farm and had to cut our meeting short. The hot dish wasn't finished yet. However, I am determined to eat it before I come home and when I do ya'll will be the first to hear about it!

I love you all so much and I want you to know how much power there is in the scriptures. As you feast upon them daily you will be protected from the deceptions and temptations of the adversary and come closer to your Heavenly Father. I know He answers our prayers through the scriptures. Open yourself up to revelation as you open up the scriptures. I love you!

Love,
Sister Williams

Finding the Flock

Dear Family and Friends,

___________________________. Yes everyone, speechless! That is what I have to describe how this week has been! We have seen so many miracles, it is amazing! This week we found 8 new people to teach and of those people there are 3 families. I'm so grateful to have been led by the spirit to find these people. Some of them are really neat experiences that I'll share a couple with you.

The weather has been pretty nice lately and we decided to do some walking. So we're walking down the street knocking on doors when a car pulls up next to us and rolls down the window. It was a young woman named Michelle. She said she saw us walking and told herself if they are still walking when I turn around I'm going to stop and ask if they need a ride. We told her who we were and asked if she had a belief in Christ. (Mind you she is pulled over on the side of the road with the hazard lights on) She told us how she had gone through a dark time but she was able to find God through it. We invited her to meet with us and we got her contact info and set a time to meet. Before we parted ways she asked if we needed a ride again and said,"Here take a Power Aid at least, its hot and you need to stay hydrated. I love helping people."  I'm so grateful Michelle followed the prompting from the spirit to stop and talk with us. I know sometimes Heavenly Father brings them to us instead of us to them.

Another neat experience we had was when we were tracting. So we do a lot of knocking on doors and we were in a trailer park walking around trying to meet people. Well, we came to a corner and I looked at this trailer on the corner and felt drawn to it. We knocked and were invited right in! That was the first time I've ever been invited right in to someone's home. We met Kandea and a couple of her children. We are now teaching her and her husband Daniel.

We also were able to receive a referral from Kandea to her neighbor and we went over to try them and they were super open. Their names are Beneto and Cyara. He is originally from Brazil and was a professional soccer player. They are excited to come to church and to teach their children about God.

I know I'm in the right place at the right time. I am meeting so many people whether it be investigators, members, companions, or other missionaries that I know I needed to know and I'm so grateful for the beautiful Plan of Happiness we have and knowing that everyone who comes into our lives is there for a specific reason. How fun it must be for Heavenly Father to be the author of all our stories. I love him and he has been truly kind to me.

I want you all to know how ridiculously happy I am. I've never been happier in my entire life and I know I can have this happiness forever because it flows from eternal and infinite beings, my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.

Love,
Sister Williams

Miracles!

Dear Family and Friends,
This has been such a great week! We met with Gilbert a few times and he came to conference last week and came to church yesterday. He is gaining such a strong testimony and he shares the gospel with everyone. He told us he has been telling all his friends and family that he is meeting with the Mormons and that he is getting baptized soon. He has even been defending his faith to those who question what he is doing! I'm so proud of him and the changes he has made in his life. I can tell a huge difference in his countenance it is so much brighter and he is so happy and hopeful.

We also found a new investigator this week named Chris. His lesson was great! I've been waiting for the day when I would meet an investigator like Chris. He had such great questions and was really truly seeking for the truth. He is hungry for the light and truth of the gospel and it is such a miracle that we found him. We will be meeting with him again this week, so more on his progress next week.

We had a training this week on fasting and I really enjoyed it! My testimony of fasting has grown and deepened so much since I've been on my mission. It is a great opportunity to open the door to revelation as I abstain from food and water for a time and am able to focus on the spirit and receive the power and knowledge promised in the scriptures. It is a great opportunity to grow closer to the Savior as we fast with a purpose and seek after the things we want to know. I know He answers. I have experienced it and have seen it in others' lives as well.
I love you all so much. Have a great week!

Love,
Sister Williams

Modern Day Revelation

Dear Family and Friends,

What a special week this has been. We have had the opportunity to hear from God's chosen prophet and apostles this week and to receive revelation for ourselves and our families. It is such a blessing to me to know when I have a question I can turn the the source of all truth, my Heavenly Father, and he will answer. This week He answered me through His servants here on the Earth.

I went prepared with questions and topics of things I wanted to receive greater light and revelation about and every single session of conference answered all of the things I asked about. How great it is to know just how real our Heavenly Father is as he listens to our prayers and knows the questions we are going to ask even before we ask them and prepares the way for us to receive the answer. He is such an amazing Father, and he is our Father.

I loved how General Conference talked so much about the Atonement. Every single talk without fail spoke of the Atonement. My favorite talk though was by David A. Bednar and his talk on fear. It was so comforting to me to hear his talk as well as confirming to me that I am on the right path and that my Heavenly Father is proud of me and He wants me to continue on in fearing Him. When I had my first interview with my mission president he asked me what my fears were and I sat there for a moment before responding, "I don't have any," I said. And its true I don't. I fear my God and it is the source of my confidence, obedience, and witness that His son lives because I wasn't always able to have this answer.. It was only though me applying the Atonement to my life that I can say the only thing I fear is God. How glorious this Plan of Ultimate Happiness our Father has for us.

I love you all and if you weren't able to watch conference or don't know what I am talking about, I will leave a link to where you can watch all the talks given. Have a great week and ask yourself, what am I going to do differently because of the things I received from conference?   Link:   lds.org
